Programs and Staff

Aboriginal Education in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District is pleased to offer a range of programs and services to Aboriginal students and their families.  Services include academic support, cultural support and liaison support.  Aboriginal Support Teachers, Aboriginal Education Assistants and Aboriginal Education Tutors are all available to assist in building success for Aboriginal students.

BC First Nations Studies 12 is offered in several of our secondary schools.  Hul'qumi'num Language is offered at the elementary and secondary schools where there is a significant population of First Nations students.  English 12 BC First Peoples was a pilot course in 2009.

Family - School Liaison

  • Assist in family, student, school communication

  • Provide updates on your child's progress, attendance and/or other concerns as requested

  • Family events - breakfasts, grad ceremonies, awards
