BC Settlement and Adaptation in Schools Program
Moving to a new country can be an exciting time.
It can also be an overwhelming and stressful time for families as they
adjust to their new community.
The Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program
is a no cost, school-based settlement service for immigrants and
refugees K-12 students and their families.
The settlement workers facilitate the integration
of families during their first two years in Canada by meeting their
immediate settlement and ongoing needs to make the transition easier.
Settlement workers also provide assistance in
filling out government forms; are able to refer families to
community resources; and assist with the adjustment and transition
process.

This project/program is made possible through funding from the
Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia.
