Page 14 68 Hoorays John Barsby Bulldogs were the first team to play on the new artificial turf behind NDSS. The AA varsity football team defeated the Langley Saints 46 – 18. Not only was this a playoff game, the team went on to play the Vernon Panthers in the AA varsity BC quarterfinals. 68 Hoorays go out to Rob, the Elementary Life Skills bus driver, who goes above and beyond to ensure the students are safe and happy on their ride. The staff tell me he’s the best driver they’ve ever worked with. Mary Innes does an EXCEPTIONAL job supporting staff using the MyEd IEP module. She’s proactive, supportive and helps people trouble shoot issues. She’s made it her business to really get to know the program so that she can answer questions and walk staff through the overly-complex program. Pleasant Valley Grade 6 student Deeya Sharma recently gave the gift of hair and a sizable donation to BC Children’s Hospital, for her birthday. She raised an amazing $7,215 and because she crushed her $3,000 goal, her twin sisters also donated their hair also. Leeya and Leena joined Deeya and donated 10 inches of hair each to Wigs for Kids BC. Way to go! 68 Hoorays! goes out to Grade 12 Dover Bay Secondary student, Jay Panchal, and his winning logo design. Vice-Principal Brett Hancock said, “He’s the voice of the Dover Bay station, an all around amazing kid and the artist of the new Dover Bay logo.” Here’s what he had to say about his creation, “Our old logo was a wave, yet the school mascot was a dolphin! That was absurd to me. I designed a new dolphin logo, incorporating West Coast First Nations design ideas to give homage to the Snaw Naw As First Nation land our school is built on.” Play Me
