Page 18 Living History John Barsby’s Student Council and Graduation class of 2018 came together with senior citizens to create a book for biographies for the residents of Berwick on the Lake. The idea originated with grade 12 Leadership student Kameron Smith, who works as a server at Berwick on the Lake. Kameron wanted to learn more about the Berwick residents she interacts with each day. The Leadership class at John Barsby embraced the idea to create a book about the lives of Berwick residents, and donate it to Berwick on the Lake. Eight students from John Barsby’s class of 2018 interviewed 17 residents. The interviews gave student’s the opportunity to interact with the senior citizens and learn about the living history in Nanaimo. There were many interesting stories told, and students were given practical advice. Once the interviews were conducted, Kameron Smith and Jaelyn Argue wrote mini biographies for each resident that was interviewed. These biographies and accompanying photos were constructed into a book, which captures individual stories and provides an opportunity for the residents to learn more about their neighbours. 
