Page 22 68 Hoorays A big shout out to the staff at Wellington Secondary, the IS-SAS team and everyone who has made the MyEd Family Portal pilot a success. A special thanks to Karen Dunn for her hard work on the project! SeanWalsh’sGrade7classfromEcoleQuarterway Elementary recently donated and sorted food at the Loaves and Fishes. The students sorted food for 90 minutes while learning about hunger in Nanaimo. Kudos to Payton Lundine for spearheading this initiative! A World of Living Colours I see the world of colours I live in every day People of all cultures, a multi-hued display And I watch them meld together, in an ever constant flow Amazed at how they complement each other for the show A show that some just cannot see, were they never taught To appreciate such beauty or have they but forgot To take the time to really see how colours of all hues Provide us with the palette to enrich our inner muse I see a world where kindness has much more clout than spite Where hands that offer friendship do not feel the need to fight Where empathy is common and we walk in all men’s shoes And if we don’t agree, at least, respect each other’s views Where beautiful is not defined by outer shape and size But rather by the twinkle shining from a kind soul’s eyes And thoughtful deeds will colour how we see each other through The lenses of a new world that’s been so long overdue I see a world of colours which begins each day anew And splashed across my canvas I see you…and you…and you And though the shades may vary, one constant will remain The words around each masterpiece inscribed upon the frame: Imagine a World without Hate Violet Walter Imagine a World without Hate Imagine a World without Hate Imagine a World without Hate Imagine a World without Hate Imagine a World without Hate Imagine a World without Hate Imagine a World without Hate Imagine a World without Hate 68 Hoorays! to Violet Walker who’s poem made the top ten in the Imagine a World without Hate contest.
