Page 14 Library and Literacy Nanaimo. The goal is to increase literacy in communities by decreasing barriers to accessing books. The City of Nanaimo had started the project in 2015. Due to time constraints and job demands, the project needed help to revitalize the unique literacy and book exchange program. There was a list of community members wanting to add a Little Library on their property. There was also a need to repair existing ones. Spread the Word moved forward with the project, “flying out of the gate” as Paterson said. Plans were starting to come together, a website was created, a proposal was developed and sponsorship was secured. It was determined how many requests there were for new libraries and also how many existing needed repaired. Sponsorship included support from Windsor Building Supplies, Vancouver Island Regional Library, Literacy Central Vancouver Island, Cloverdale Paints, Industrial Plastics, and the City of Nanaimo. Withthegroup’sgraduationinJune2018,Spread the Word has been working towards securing an organization to spearhead the project in the fall, creating a legacy for LVI. Sundberg said, “The LVI program has been a fantastic learning opportunity with amazing facilitators and coaches. The Little Libraries project allowed Spread the Word to work on it’s team building with a community focus.” It’s great to see various partnerships continue to develop and flourish in Nanaimo and its surrounding areas. A big kudos to LVI for their work fostering leaders in our community and to the groups involved for their dedication to such worthy causes. Access to literacy for all is good in our communities! 
