This spring, Carmella was profiled by the Ottawa Jazz Scene in part for having the most active group of ensembles at MusicFest Canada.Nanaimos jazz lineage inspires student musicians.Orange Shirt Day gains momentum!Superstar Learning Alternatives Teacher Amelia Bieling started a mobiles from therafters initiative at Learning Alternatives. Students created mobiles with more than 150 t-shirts, representing the number of residential schools in Canada from the late 1800s to 1996.The mobiles represent the fluid nature of trauma moving from one generation to another. A big shout out to Crystal Dennison, Sandra Scott and Tracy Gilbert from Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation (NLSF), for their continued and on-going support of SD68 students. We received Stock the Lockers school supplies in September and Tracy delivers food to our school every week that helps feed our kids who would otherwise go hungry. The NLSF team is amazing and I run out of ways to say Thank you to them.Page12Page8'
