The school district has begun the planning necessary to support the family of an Essential Service Worker (ESW). The intent is to identify ESWs in our parent and guardian community and to assess the need within our community, which may include the provision of childminding within our facilities, for families of ESWs who do not have other means of care during this global pandemic.
By Ministry of Education definition, an essential service worker is an individual critical to preserving life, health and societal functioning – including emergency responders, front-line health care workers, and critical infrastructure and supply chain (e.g. grocery, medicine) workers. Once information is received, the district will determine eligibility and prioritize depending on ESW duties and family needs. A representative from the district may conduct follow-up calls to gather further information.
