Charlene is of Indigenous (Ehattesaht Chinehkint), Scottish, and English descent and her father also gave her a traditional family name from their lineage. She is a married mother of two children, who attend elementary and secondary schools in the district.

She is beginning her second term as a school trustee.  She previously held the position of Board Chair for 4 years and gained a great deal of knowledge and perspective on how Nanaimo Ladysmith Schools operates and it’s governance structure.  As a trustee, Charlene has previously participated in the Long Range Facilities Committee, Safe Schools Committee, and the Board’s Policy Committee among other liaison assignments.

Prior to her first election in 2018, she represented the District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) as President and Past President.  She played a key supportive role for parents during consultation and construction meetings from 2011 to 2018.

She is humbled to continue to serve Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools as a member of the Board of Education working to achieve success for all.
