Lisa Marie is a graduate and past employee of Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools (NLPS) and has two school aged children in the district. Lisa Marie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Psychology from Vancouver Island University and is defending her Master of Arts degree in Community Development through the University of Victoria.
Lisa Marie works in the field of substance use and addictions conducting community and program development, as well as navigating direct substance related supports for often vulnerable and disengaged youth. Lisa Marie’s career path has included leadership roles in research, coordination, consultation, and facilitation. Lisa Marie’s work is deeply rooted in learning from, and walking along side, those too often found marginalized in our community, and addressing the symptoms of such marginalization that may result. Her areas of focus to date have included improving access to resources for those experiencing mental illness, addictions, poverty, and homelessness, and ensuring the provision of enriched, equitable educational opportunities for all students.
Lisa Marie held positions within NLPS including Community Schools Coordinator and Education Assistant supporting students in various settings including French Immersion, Skills for Life, and all grade levels.
