Page 12 The students seem really engaged and we enjoyed getting to know them! We have also had the opportunity to volunteer at the breakfast and lunch program at one of the schools, where we were able to get to know the students on a different, more personal level. We have been involved in many other programs, both in and out of school. We helped out at a Global Citizenship group, assisted a volunteer with her after school pottery program, shadowed E.A.’s while they worked with their students, wrote up a poster for another after school program and presented it to the school class by class. We followed that up by helping out at that program and had a lot of fun! Each of us also did a shift at Loaves & Fishes for a morning. Outside of school we were fortunate to be Ambassadors for Pacifica Housing, helping set up the new site for supportive housing on Labieux Road. We also wrapped presents for the Christmas Angel hamper program at Volunteer Nanaimo, and attended the December Youth Advocates meeting where Carlo Pavan addressed the group on LGBTQ students in B.C. To wrap our practicum up, we will spend our last day delivering VIU hampers in the morning and then getting a tour of Harris House. We can’t put into words just how much our eyes have been opened to the needs of our community, as well as being rocked by the love and support a community that comes together can provide. 
