Early French Immersion Registration (Kindergarten & Grade 1)

Registration for Early French Immersion (Kindergarten & Grade 1) starts January 7, 2026 at 8 a.m. and ends January 31, 2026.  Student placement in French Immersion will be done via lottery. Students with an older sibling, who will still be attending the same school, must register by the stated deadline for priority placement.

Out of Catchment requests

Registration for Out of Catchment applications opens January 7, 2026 and the deadline is March 31, 2026 for the upcoming school year.

  • Please note: Out of Catchment request are rarely granted. The district prioritizes space for students in their catchment school and a school is only able to enroll Out of Catchment students if there is sufficient space, and there are resources to facilitate such a move. Most schools are currently at capacity or near capacity.
  • Out of Catchment requests will be reviewed, and decisions made, by April 30.
  • Families will be notified by April 30 regarding the status of their request. Please do not contact the district to check on the status of your Out of Catchment request.
  • Another review process will occur on September 30 of the school year where all applications, including those received after March 31st, will be reviewed.
  • Have you moved? If your child is currently registered in an NLPS school and you have since moved or will be moving to a residence outside of that school’s catchment area, you do not need to submit an Out of Catchment request for your child to continue to attend their current school. Please provide the school office with your new address.
