Following a decision by the Board of Education and a consultation period in June 2024, Rutherford Elementary will be opening in September 2025.

NLPS is excited to welcome all of the new students and their families who will be part of the Rutherford Elementary community for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond! Whether you are starting Kindergarten, or Grade 7, we can’t wait to see you and welcome you to our inclusive and supportive community.

This is such an exciting time. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and to building this community together. The district team is working hard to revitalize our school and to make sure it’s a vibrant and safe place to learn.
Announcements:
- In the weeks ahead, I will be asking you to help choose a new logo and mascot for our school. Your votes mattered and we have narrowed our choices to either The Rutherford Rams or The Rutherford Riptide. A local indigenous artist is creating draft designs for us. Once we have those, I will share them with you, and we will vote again.
- Please join us, if you can, for our first PAC meeting February 13th at 6:30 pm in the Rock City Elementary School library. This will be a chance for us to connect and to begin to plan for our school community.

Stay tuned to your email and this webpage for updates about Rutherford Elementary. The Rutherford school building is currently undergoing renovations so that it is a fresh and welcoming space for our new students and families. These renovations are in addition to renovations made to Rutherford Elementary in 2021 when it temporarily hosted students from Pleasant Valley Elementary while Pleasant Valley underwent seismic upgrades.
Prior to September 2025, students and families will have the opportunity to tour the school and get to know each other.
