The Board of Education of School District No. 68 (Nanaimo‑Ladysmith) announces that Board Chair Naomi Bailey has submitted her resignation from the Board, effective April 30, 2026

Nanaimo, BC: School Trustee and Board of Education Chair Naomi Bailey has announced her resignation in anticipation of transitioning into a role as an employee within the district. While not required to resign at this time, Trustee Bailey chose to provide the advance notice to support the continuity of governance and a smooth leadership transition for the Board of Education and the district community.

Vice-Chair Leanne Lee will be assuming the role of Board Chair effective May 1, 2026. Trustee Lee will serve as Chair until the conclusion of the current Board term in October.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to sincerely thank Naomi for her dedication and steady leadership,” said Lee. “Her commitment to students, staff, and the broader community has been evident throughout her tenure, and we are grateful for the strong foundation she leaves behind.”

Bailey expressed her appreciation for the district and her Board of Education colleagues.

“It has been an honour to work alongside such a committed Board and dedicated employees,” said Bailey. “I am thankful for the professionalism, collaboration, and shared focus on serving our community that defines the work of this district.”

The Board extends its sincere gratitude to Bailey for her service and leadership and looks forward to her continued contributions to the district in her new capacity.
